Let’s dive into this week’s chart-toppers and see if your favorite actor made it!
01
Wang Xiaoyi Claims the Crown: A Perfect Blend of Big IP and Star Power
Topping the list this week is Wang Xiaoyi with a scorching popularity score of 3.827 million—a lead so significant it’s hard to overlook. Last week she was runner-up, but this time she leaps to first place, and there are several reasons behind this rise.
First, the ongoing success of Yun Miao 3: Demon Town Clan continues to drive her popularity. The drama topped the Hongguo streaming charts last week, and Wang Xiaoyi’s strong association with the Yun Miao IP has only fueled her growing influence. This is a classic example of how a major IP and a talented actor can elevate each other in the short drama scene.
Second, Wang Xiaoyi launched three new dramas within the past week. Among them, Zhangshangzhu, a historical romance that premiered on iQIYI on June 25th, made an immediate impact by topping multiple charts including the micro-drama leaderboard, trending list, and period romance rankings, reaching a peak heat value of over 3500 on the platform. Her stunning performance and eye-catching costume design in Zhangshangzhu highlight her commanding presence onscreen.
Another new release, Princess Jueshe, The Bodyguard's Rebellion, ranked second on the Hongguo hot drama list last week, adding further momentum to her rising star. And then there’s After Recognizing Relatives, Mistakenly Joining a Gang and Becoming the Group’s Favorite, which amassed over 80 million heat points on Hongguo and stayed on the DataEye red fruit chart for three consecutive days.
The sheer number of new releases underlines Wang Xiaoyi’s work ethic. DataEye reports she’s connected to 54 short dramas—more than any other actor in the top 30 this week. It’s no exaggeration to call her the hottest short drama actor in the last week of June.
Following closely in second place is Xue Bin Hong, who also rode the wave of Yun Miao 3’s popularity with a heat score of 2.76 million. As Wang Xiaoyi’s lively sidekick in the series, Xue Bin Hong delivered a natural and humorous performance that resonated strongly with viewers. His solid presence in a female-led story showcases his acting chops.
Beyond Yun Miao 3, he’s starred in two more recent dramas: After Recognizing Relatives, Mistakenly Joining a Gang and Becoming the Group’s Favorite (his third collaboration with Wang Xiaoyi outside the Yun Miao franchise) and Marriage and Burning Hearts. The recurring on-screen partnership has won approval from both the market and the audience, proving their mutual rise is no coincidence.
02
Ma Xiaowei Climbs High with New Drama Buzz
Claiming third place this week is Ma Xiaowei, scoring 2.239 million in popularity. She’s best known for the viral Hongguo drama After Rebirth, I Choose Not to Forgive and has appeared in Blade of Justice as well.
Recently, she’s had two new dramas launch on Hongguo: Prodigy Blind Baby Protects Parents and My Husband Came from 800 Years Ago. Prodigy Blind Baby has posted solid numbers and looks set to climb further.
Fourth place belongs to En Jing with a heat score of 1.777 million. Despite only being associated with seven short dramas, she holds the explosive hit Bone: The Path to Enlightenment. Her recent new drama Old Age Arrives, The Beautiful Witch Uses Me as a Cauldron is also performing well, signaling steady momentum in her short drama career.
Rounding out the top five is familiar face Ke Chun, who scored 1.753 million. Ke Chun’s ranking fluctuates every week, but whenever he’s active, he consistently lands in the top five. Following A Good Well-Behaved Girl, he teamed up with Yu Yin for Different from Others, a new work based on Rao Xueman’s novel that’s already generating buzz even before release. The behind-the-scenes clips alone have sparked days of discussion, a testament to his top-tier short drama status.
Additionally, his upcoming drama Goodbye Jiang Ye has stirred massive anticipation, with over 2 million reservations on Hongguo before airing. It’s clear that being a short drama superstar comes with its perks.
Will he reclaim the top spot once the new drama premieres? We’ll have to wait and see!
That wraps up this week’s DataEye Short Drama Actor Weekly Rankings. Did your favorite make the list? Keep an eye out—you might see them climbing next week!
