Following negotiations, the Nets refrained from offering Thomas a major contract, aiming to gauge interest from other teams. Assistant coach Jack Fisher reported that the Nets offered Thomas a two-year, $14.1 million contract with a team option for the second year, indicating their reservations about his value.
Frustrated by the Nets’ decision, Thomas is considering accepting the qualifying offer to become an unrestricted free agent in 2026, allowing him more control over his future. Kuminga is contemplating a similar move if the Warriors persist in their stance, preferring a short-term contract to remain dissatisfied.
