CIFIT's China (Xiamen)-UK Economic and Trade Exchange Event attracted more than 200 participants last week. The event drew representatives from multinational companies and international business associations from both China and the U.K. as well as a host of government officials. In 2024, Xiamen's total import and export volume with the U.K. increased by 10 percent year-on-year.

The Shitang Community Health Service Center in Haicang last week hosted the ceremonial first official inoculation against HPV using Cecolin Nine, a nonavalent vaccine developed by Walvax Biotechnology and Xiamen University. Fujian residents can schedule a vaccination appointment via the Min Zheng Tong smartphone app.
CIFIT hosts Invest in Fujian signing ceremony for multiple projects

The China International Fair for Investment and Trade last week hosted an Invest in Fujian signing ceremony for multiple major projects. The Xiamen delegation signed 11 investment projects totaling 36.1 billion yuan, marking four consecutive years of growth.
Xiamen's total contracted investment value and foreign-funded project value ranked first in Fujian for four consecutive editions of CIFIT. The ceremony included six major foreign-funded projects worth 11.6 billion yuan in areas such as electronics, new energy, aircraft maintenance and financial services.
The Haeco group announced new planes for aircraft maintenance facilities in Xiamen. TotalEnergies and Xiamen ITG announced agreements in fields of LNG, new energy investments, lubricants and functional materials. Q Technology announced plans to invest in Xiamen's micro-driver operational headquarters. And Brookfield Asset Management announced plans to establish a China Industrial Logistics Pre-REIT Fund with Xiamen.
Survey records more than 165K ride-hailing drivers in Xiamen

The China Research Center for New Employment Forms recently released a research report tracking employment in the ride-hailing sector. The average monthly income of ride-hailing drivers hit 7,623 yuan, ranking second among six blue-collar professions, a sector that also included food delivery workers, truck drivers, couriers, general manufacturing workers and construction workers.
In first-tier cities, ride-hailing drivers who work eight or more hours per day earn an average income of 11,557 yuan. Xiamen had 59 licensed ride-hailing platform companies last year. The firms had more than 58,000 approved vehicles and more than 165,000 approved drivers.
Xiamen promotes park-style marriage registration centers

Local authorities noted recently that the city is actively promoting marriage registration reforms and the construction of park-style marriage registration centers. The Gulangyu Marriage Registration Center debuted in June, becoming the first such facility located at a Unesco World Heritage site. It offers marriage services for both domestic and international guests.
The center has hosted more than 500 marriage registrations since its debut, with a peak of 59 registrations in a single day. In August this year, the number of marriage registrations in Siming increased by 103.9 percent compared to the same period in 2024.
Silk Road Maritime International Cooperation Forum opens

The seventh Silk Road Maritime International Cooperation Forum opened in Xiamen last week. Attendees included representatives from global ports, shipping firms, logistics enterprises, research institutions, universities and Silk Road Maritime Alliance members. The alliance comprises 367 members, operates 148 designated routes across 150 ports in more than 40 countries and has handled over 24 million TEU of container throughput since its establishment Year 2018.
China International Fair for Investment and Trade wraps up

The annual China International Fair for Investment and Trade concluded successfully in Xiamen last Thursday. CIFIT officials announced that participants signed more than 1,100 investment projects signed during the event, with a planned total investment of about 644 billion yuan.
XM showcases multiple institutions at CIFTIS

This year's China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) opened in Beijing last week. The fair focused on the digital intelligence and the revitalization of the trade in services. Attendees hailed from more than 80 countries and international organizations including Australia, Germany and the World Intellectual Property Organization.
Nearly 2,000 enterprises exhibited on-site, including almost 500 Fortune Global 500 and industry-leading companies such as Walmart, AstraZeneca and KPMG. The exhibitors represented dozens of the top countries in trade in services.
Xiamen's commerce bureau helped coordinate exhibitions for seven local institutions. The Xiamen delegation displayed the city's achievements and cooperation potential in areas such as aviation, traditional Chinese medicine, language translation, smart manufacturing, brain-computer interfaces and human resources.
Siming set to debut 10 pocket parks in Hubin

Siming officials last week announced a competition to name 10 planned pocket parks, most of which are to be located in the Hubin area. The competition also includes a call for logo design and branding for the parks. Winning entries will be eligible for up to 1,000 yuan in prize money. Both individuals and professional firms may enter the competition through September 25. Submissions should include both proposed park names and logo designs. All entries must be submitted via email to xxmtemail@126.com.
