On February 26, Fan Bo, Secretary of the CPC Suzhou Municipal Committee, met with Tuimebayev Zhanseit, Rector of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (KazNU). Zhang Qiao, President of Soochow University attended the meeting.

Fan Bo welcomed Tuimebayev Zhanseit to Suzhou on behalf of the CPC Suzhou Municipal Committee and Suzhou Government. Fan noted that Suzhou, as an important central city in eastern China, is currently thoroughly studying and implementing the guiding principles of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the CPC, promoting the deep integration of scientific and technological innovation with industrial innovation, developing new quality productive forces tailored to local conditions, and vigorously building an “AI+” city. KazNU, one of the oldest and most comprehensive universities in Kazakhstan, has renowned strengths in computer science, artificial intelligence, robotics engineering and other fields. In recent years, it has deepened industry-university-research cooperation with Soochow University, achieving notable results. It is hoped that the university will give full play to its own advantages, continue to deepen cooperation with Suzhou, jointly enhance people-to-people exchanges and academic collaboration, help advance technological innovation and industrial synergy, and jointly contribute to the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative. Suzhou will earnestly implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of China and Kazakhstan, strengthen city-to-city exchanges and university cooperation with Kazakhstan, and help enhance mutual understanding, friendship and people-to-people ties between the two countries.
Tuimebayev Zhanseit expressed gratitude to Suzhou for its care and support for the university’s development. He praised Suzhou’s rich historical and cultural heritage and its unique charm. He noted that in recent years, Suzhou has achieved remarkable progress in high-tech innovation and high-quality development. KazNU attaches great importance to its cooperation with Suzhou and hopes to further expand exchanges in education, scientific research, and culture, aiming to launch more university-local government collaboration projects to achieve complementary strengths and win-win development.
